Given you didn't bore the cylinders,etc., etc., I would say 1200 miles per quart is quite good.

And compression has to do with compression rings, not oil control rings. You can have great compression, shot oil control rings, and kill mosquitoes for miles around. Not quite a normal combo, maybe, but also possible.
