That's a good idea. I was already thinking about bending the grill as you suggest to clear the dash. So, you didn't use the plastic surround at all, right?

I've got power windows, so window crank clearance isn't an issue for me. I've also heard that you can bend the crank arm outward slightly, or add a spacer.

I'm FAR from an audiophile, but I would think it be better NOT to use the 10" in the rear for the mids. I know you already have the 4's (w/ custom installation!), but have you considered component speakers? If you're thinking about getting additional speakers up front, for a little more $, you could get a 5.25" or 6.5" component set up which include crossovers and replace the 4" w/ the mid-woofer and install the tweeter in the dash/door.
