In a message dated 2/25/2004 8:28:58 AM Pacific Standard Time, syncrowestytd@mindspring.com writes: I now have approximately 140K and five years on my conversion, a 1.9 TD [AAZ]. The newer [than 1998] TDI engine requires a raised deck lid as the engine must be set up at 15 degrees. There is a Syncro guy in northern CA that is currently working to build a 50-degree late-TDI mounting kit, so maybe by the time you are ready he’ll have it. I is a good engine for normal Syncro use, a 110 hp version or PD would be even better but hard to find.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> For anyone interested, there is a Syncro in process of getting a 15° 1.9TD kit installed at my local VW speciaslist. Kit was purchased from Overland. They 've got an interesting ribbed adapter plate. I'm going to try to take pics before they button up the engine. Bottom support arms are are made of round tubing with welded plates on each end. Looks like it's mounting runs front to back on each side. Instead of side to side.
