I had this happen before on a 200 mile interstate trip. I took the OEM
10/13 mm tool that came in the bag with the jack and popped the plastic
cover and GENTLY tightened the wiper nut and tried the wipers until the
nut held, then quit. The reason I took such care is that the same thing
happened about 8 years before, and when I put a socket wrench on the
offending assembly, the stud broke off with the nut and I had no wiper
at all on the drivers side. It was a huge PITA to pull the assembly and
replace it with a new one.

Don't overtighten. Test. Don't fool with glue or teflon tape.
