Craig,

The C-Clamp should work fine. Make sure it is big enough to get around the whole caliper. Take care not to pinch any soft parts like a hose or other fittings on the back side. It should sit on solid iron in the back of your caliper. I rarely use anyhting on the fornt side of the piston. I stick the rod part that of the C-clamp inside the piston cup. Keeps it from slipping around as you tighten the clamp. Assuming you have no corrosion issue on the pistons, the entire operation should not take more than 20-25 minutes each side depending on your mechanical skills. That's with hand tools and includes time to remove and reinstall tires.

I have a friend and an GF who are both heavy on the brakes. That resulted in giving me plenty of practice replacing pads. I can usually do the entire job in about 20-25 minutes.

BTW, I didn't mention that turning the wheel the direction you are working will make access to the bolts to remove the caliper easier. Oh I failed to mention that the caliper has to come off to to do this properly.
