Peter,

I now have approximately 140K and five years on my conversion, a 1.9 TD [AAZ]. The newer [than 1998] TDI engine requires a raised deck lid as the engine must be set up at 15 degrees. There is a Syncro guy in northern CA that is currently working to build a 50-degree late-TDI mounting kit, so maybe by the time you are ready he'll have it. I is a good engine for normal Syncro use, a 110 hp version or PD would be even better but hard to find.

Karl

I have been reading about all the engine conversions for the syncros and was wondering how many of you are using something other than the stock 2.1WB and how long (ie miles) you have been doing so.

I saw a 2000 TDI for sale with 8K miles (so it said) on TheSamba. Complete with brain. What would be a realistic price for an engine?

TDI?

Jetta in-line 4?

peter
