I carry a five pound sledge hammer for use in just such situations. Procedure is as follows. Grab hammer, approach offending vehicle and smash out lights. Tell outraged driver I just wanted to be helpful as the smashing of his lights etc was obviously what he/she was trying to do by bashing into my vehicle. Tell them it's cheaper this way as I don't have to send them a bill for the damage to my car. Well maybe that's what I'd like to do. Carry a digital camera. Photo offense if possible license plate for sure.
