There are 2 problems with your idea. You will not have the flare for the hose and clamp to push against to keep it from slipping out under pressure. This will encourage you to tighten the clamp more. Them since you will not have the metal insert inside the tube, it will deform causing it to leak again. I would use a sheet metal screw with some sealant or epoxy to seal the leak.

Well, I'm an idiot. I was doing some work on my 87' Syncro yesterday and managed to drill right through one of the plastic coolant pipes that runs the lenght of the van. So I was thinking about just cutting through it at the leak and slipping a rubber hose (radiator hose) in between to rejoin it. 2 Question are: I this a good Idea? I don't see why not myself. Also, what diameter hose do I need to get?

Thanks, Randy Charrette 87' Syncro TIICO
