Depending on the severity of the damage, you could consider "self sealing" (self vulcanizing) tape. The kind they sell at Canadian Tire is called "Super tape". It's great stuff for all sorts of applications. I've never tried it on a cooling system, but this is one of their main claims, that i will work is such situations. With a good clean surface, 2 or 3 thicknesses should do (wrapped and stretched right around). I'd smooth any burrs or ridges too.

Has anyone tied this before in a cooling system application?

Well, I'm an idiot. I was doing some work on my 87' Syncro yesterday and managed to drill right through one of the plastic coolant pipes that runs the lenght of the van. So I was thinking about just cutting through it at the leak and slipping a rubber hose (radiator hose) in between to rejoin it. 2 Question are: I this a good Idea? I don't see why not myself. Also, what diameter hose do I need to get?

Thanks, Randy Charrette 87' Syncro TIICO
