Tom, Mee too! my 87 Syncro GL needs its windshield removed, the metal sill addressed and replaced with the non chrome 88 on seal. My understanding is you can use soapy water, and a string in the groove, put the weather-strip on the glass put some 1/8 nylon cord or plastic coated wire works good. soap everything, put the window in the opening try to catch the lower lip on the metal if you can. Have an assistant push on the glass from the outside, slowly pull the inside lip of the rubber seal "inside" the van with the cord or wire. starting at the middle of the bottom and working up both sides to the top. Done! Doug ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tom L. Salicos" <TomSalicos@COMCAST.NET> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Sunday, March 07, 2004 8:39 AM Subject: Winshield Seal
I am looking for recommendations/caveats on a replacement windshield rubber seal. I do not want the "chrome" insert groove. Thanks Tom Salicos '87 Syncro Westy |
