Subject: Converting EFI to Carberator
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed
hi, malcolm, this is Armando, I hope you remember me, I sold you the
manifold for the pierburg carburator. I agree with you, that carbs are only
as good as you can maintain them. Fact: in auto racing, everyone uses
carburator, because fuel economy (mpg) is not dominant a factor. If you are
racing with big budget, they use fuel injection, because they can afford the
hi-tech technicians to keep the race car running perfectly. Fuel injection
is a much more fuel efficient system,as long as the electronics are working
as the designer intended them to work. But as soon as the sensors (heated o2
sensors, temp sensors, map sensors, etc) start sending the wrong info into
the computer, there goes the advantage of EFI (electronic fuel injection). A
carburator is adjustable in many ways, like jet sizes for different
altitudes, but you need to know what you are doing, and need a whole lot of
tools to keep a "good" carb to stay good. Fuel injection is a production
type system, that needs to be good under any circumstances, regardless of
where you live or where you go. My point is that if you prefer a carburator,
you can make it work just as good as a fuel injection system as long as you
can adjust for the different variable driveing conditions.
Cheers. Armando
