The problem, as I understand it, is those studs are very long and they twist a bit as you torque them. You need to hold them at the proper torque for a moment or two to make up for this. With a click-type wrench, once it clicks you know you were at the right torque at that instant, but you don't know what happens afterwards. With a beam-type, you can watch the pointer.
