Thanks for the suggestion, David. My solution was to remove the vendor supplied front seal, roll it up, put it under the bench seat, and use the OEM one spliced on to the new and improved side gasket. Pretty much what Chris mentioned. This way, i feel that i get the best of both worlds.

Just one person's experience, and still a worthwhile upgrade (yes, an improvement over stock).
