Use a mini or standard ball mount. RS or a local CB or ham radio shop will have one. You may have to enlarge the existing hole and also drill 3 in a pattern just around it, but you will be able to seal it up well enough to totally eliminate corrosion.

You then have a standard 3/8 inch mount point that you can screw any standard whip or loaded antenna into. And it's rugged as hell.
