Kevin, the big plug from  the OXY sensor is power for the built in heater
only.  It has nothing to do  with the signal to the ECU.  Only the black wire
with the spade connector  is sending information to the ECU.  You need only to
disconnect this wire  to see if there is a difference in running with it or
without it.  If you  think you made a bad splice then you should examine it.  The
splices should  first of all be staggered so they do not all occur in the same
spot.  They  must be done in either soldered or good nude crimp connector of
the correct  size for the bare wire.  These connection MUST be covered with
high quality  heat shrink tubing to insure there is NO leakage to the
atmosphere, ground or  other wires.  All the cut & splice OXY sensors I supply to my
customers  include the correct crimp connectors and heat shrink tubing.
