If it's the hose I think you're talking about it does have some bends in it from the VW factory, but the bends somewhat smoth out when the hose is installed. My guess is these bends--once straightened on installation-- help and increase tension in certain areas of the hose to help clear and stay above the axle etc. That's not to say those bends are necessarily necessary. This I don't know. Just sharing the info.

On the same topic does anyone have knowledge of the material the VW factory hoses are made of compaired to "standard" hoses. I had a feeling the longevity of the VW factory hoses was superior to "standard" hose from the FLAPS. I base this on the fact that while I replaced most of my hoses a few years ago, none were leaking or even all that worn after 16 years of use. I've never had hoses last that long in another vehicle. And in fact some I'll bet are running the original VW hose for over 20 years at this point. I'm thinking a hose from FLAPS wouldn't last half that.
