The 2.1L wire set sold by VW in North America is, interestingly, not from Bosch. In the U.S. Bosch sells a Mexican made wire set under their name, whereas most of the ones sold by VW in North America are made by VW's Canadian OEM supplier.

We sell this Canadian made set for much less than the price of the Bosch set, because we buy it directly from their factory (as does Volkswagen), and frankly I think it's a better set. Both they and Bosch obtain the bulk copper wire from the same large manufacturer; but each makes their own jacketing and ends. The Canadian OEM wires use the same ends as the ones sold by the VW dealer.

What's more, at $39.95 our OEM set is much cheaper than either the dealer's price, or the price of the Mexican made Bosch sets. A rare case where the best quality part is also the cheapest.

For those who insist on nothing but German parts, we can often get Beru made wire sets for $59.95. (Email for availability.) Beru is an OE supplier to Volkswagen/Germany, and their set is still German made rather than Mexican like Bosch. In fact theirs is the only German made set I've seen stateside in quite some time. However, while I like them better than the Bosch set, I can't honestly say that they are any better than the $39 Canadian OE ones (which are a bargain for the price in my opinion).
