Sounds like you are saying the name wrong! Probably because you are spelling it wrong - TOUAREG. The Touareg are a group of nomadic people in Africa - the Paris Dakar Rallye logo is an image of a Touareg - pronounced too-a-reg with the a being very soft. The Touareg people endure all extremes and can go anywhere. I kind of like the name that VW choose for the vehicle. It goes with all their other African names, Scirocco, Corrado.. etc... In a few years I think I will buy a Touareg - I can't afford a new one. The Touareg is only real alternative to the Syncro if you don't mind loosing some interior space and gaining a lot of creature comforts.
