I've seen a lot of things where the driver could have saved the cost of the tow, if they would have had the smallest amount of brains. These are not rocket science but these fixes got me home. Broken alt./water pump belt late sunday night. Fix: the Ac belt almost fits. Way to loose, but enough to drive 175 miles home and to work the next day. In my 1980, coming home from work, all of a sudden dead. Nothing not radio. Battery cable broke right off the starter. Green with corrosion I cleaned the end as best I could, and connected up my jumper cable from there to the starter. Ran great, 25 miles home. How needs spare parts anyway.. ERic
