If so, the stereo itself probably slides into a sleeve that's installed in the dash. There will be two latches on the sides that you need to push in to get it to slide out. They may be hidden behind a trim ring, or there may be holes in the face of the radio, at the sides, to insert tools into. If it's a "two big knobs" style radio, usually they're held in with nuts on the control shaft that can be reached after removing the knobs. You may be able to get another look at the situation by removing the glovebox. I'd wager you can get it out without removing the dash.
