Yes, there was a transition for the size of the front outer bearing. Please tell us your VIN#. Not the whole long thing but starting with the 10th digit from the left. Should be a letter followed by another letter and then 5 or 6 numbers. Those letters and numbers can be looked up in the VW parts data to see which of the bearing part numbers you need.
