Thanks to everyone who gave advice and comments on the AFM problem I was having. After taking it apart, I moved the plate that has the carbon strip on it about a millimeter to give it new purchase with the contacts. I also sprayed the thing down good with QD Electronic Cleaner from NAPA. I allowed it to dry thoroughly, put the cover back on it, installed it in my 87 GL and it still would not work. The engine revs up, then dies immediately. So, on to plan B. I'm purchasing a used AFM from a list member. But I must admit, the effort on the old AFM was worth it for the education and experience. Thanks again! Warren Lail 88 Westy "Billy Bones" 87 GL "Long John" |
