Subject: 82 I4 rough idle
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

following from a post last week... 1800 I4. CIS injection. Hall effect ignition. Stable idle, but rough. No apparant vacuum leaks. ( ie no change in idle after spraying carb cleaner around the fittings etc) timing light on #2,3 shows a steady flash. timing light on #1 4 misses flashes irregularly- coinciding with the rough running of the motor. NEW rotor cap leads plugs. I'm left thinking that there is something not working quite right in the distributor, resulting in intermittent juice to #1,4, and a rough idle. Are there any diagnostics for the distributor ..shaft play, hall generator wearing out etc. any typical weak spots to look for? Remarkably little in the archives on this,( I searched Hall generator) so is there any list wisdom? Bill M 82 GL
