I have to agree with the posters that eBay is a good thing for us Vanagon owners. If something is over-priced don't buy it but eBay has made a lot of expensive and hard to find parts that much more accessible. Sure there is some gouging but if you do your homework you can discern what's a fair price and what's not. It's a case of throwing the baby out with the bath water if you boycott the whole thing. It's not easy to sell a bunch of parts (we've all got those extras!) over the list, eBay makes it much simpler. It sounds like the root of your problem wasn't even eBay, just that you didn't clear your space quick enough. The guy sounded like he wanted to get rid of asap and taking a few weeks to get it probably made him find another option. Better luck next time....
