A decent grease is the trick - will last you many years, like the original stuff. You have to drive out the little roll pin to pop off the latch, and don't lose the wavy washer underneath it. If the base stud is loose, you can pop the black cap off the outside and use a screwdriver to tighten it back up. There is a lead insert that deforms to fit the hole in the glass to afford some grip to the stud. That's about all I know about that........
