Subject: Re: Spare Parts you MUST carry! nVc!

I have a car tote dolly, & whenever I go on extended trips, I always tow my 86 parts bus. I've never had to use it, but its a great place for my hippy brothers & sisters to sleep, that bum rides with me, at the rest stops in Oregon! JC... :) It's always friday....somewhere, & 12:00 too! :) In a message dated 3/9/04 10:46:05 AM Mountain Standard Time, xtabe@YAHOO.COM writes: Well, it's almost Friday....

This is getting a bit silly. Spare parts I've seen recommended in the last month or two:

AFM fuel injectors fuel regulator fuel pump fuel filter engine computer distributor plug wires main relay coolant hoses temp sensor coolant manifold fuses headlight bulb alternator starter motor expansion tank cap fuel line hose clamps headlight switch antifreeze oil windshield washer fluid wipers tire pump laptop to write emails to the list

Don't forget the tools required to install all these. Now, if I did everything that everyone suggested, I wouldn't have room for anything but spares.

Moral of the story: Just because someone wrote it down doesn't necessarily mean it's true for you!

I saw a statistic showing the vast majority of roadside breakdowns were caused by flat tires, followed by cooling system problems. So if you're prepared to fix those two problems, and carry any spares you already know are on the way out, you should be well prepared. In my opinion.
