I've been using a product called the Spring Loop Shade for about 10 years... I originally bought mine from Costco Wholesale club for about $15. At the time they came in two sizes, Large for most mid and full size cars, and Jumbo for most Vans & pickups... They came in various colors on one side and a dull silver on the other. Open there are two circles of material covering the windshield, held in place by the visors, they kinda look like a bra for Dolly Parton. Closed they end up being a 12" diameter circle about 1/2" thick. I have see similar products at the various chain stores (ie: Advance Auto, Pep Boys, Autozone), but don't remember the pricing...

Used many years and still works fine... They are opaque, so make a great privacy screen as well...
