Most of the yards I've seen are more concerned with getting the job done than being gentle (after all, they are just "going to get crushed") but I have been to a couple yards which were inpressive. The best was out past Poway near San Diego. All they do is VW and when a new car comes in it's compeltely dismantled (some where saved and sold whole, however). They had racks of body panels, doors, chassis, drivelines - you name it. In several shipping containers were shelves and shelves of more delicate parts and in a semi-covered building were shelves of engines and bin after bin of small parts. Many things were labeled and the yard guys could find anything if given a moment to remember where it was. They weren't cheap, but they had TONS of stuff.
