Subject: Front Heater Box Overhaul
Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

I've just removed the heater box assembly to replace the blower motor and reseal the vents/flaps. A couple questions:

1. I'd like to replace the foam on the vent flaps, but the weather stripping type stuff I've seen at HD/Lowes isn't wide enough (needs to be 2"-3" wide). Where can I buy a suitable replacement material?

2. The Bentley says: "Seal the locating grooves in upper and lower part of housing with sealing compound, Part No. AMV 176 00 05." What are the "locating grooves" and what type of sealant is this?

3. Bentley also says: "coat with D17 to avoid leaks." Again, I'm not sure what this is (same as above?).

Here's the page from Bentley: http://home.earthlink.net/~tornadored/vanagon/bentley_80-14.gif

4. And, not exactly related to the heater - How do I remove spade terminals inside electrical plugs, specifically the cylindrical connectors for the climate/ac switches? I need to replace one of the female terminals, but can't seem to remove it from the plug.

Thanks,

James V 90 Carat
