Thanks for the Hall sender info. You're right, the digijet section of Bentley gives the precautions that the digifant section does not, and I've violated several of those rules. However, if I can scrape together the money, I'm going to replace my distributor with a new one and hopefully eliminate that problem (if in fact that is part of it). My objective is to replace every component that sends information to the ECU. From what I've learned from the list, the ECU can only work with the information it gets, i.e., it can't make chicken soup out of chicken poop.

Right now I've got the starter out, so it will be a few days before I can get Bill running again.

The covering of the large wire running to my starter is cracked and brittle. Any tips on replacing this? It comes out of a large bundle of wires, probably from the battery.
