Subject: Rusting Transmission Housing
Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

How concerned and what can be done about a very rusty Transmission Housing in my '87 Westy?

No problems as of yet. The rust really seems bad, though, kind a flaking off chunks. There is very minor body rust; usual seam and rear panel. This is a bus that is not a daily driver but has spent it's whole life in one family, (Grandfather, Mother-in-law now us.) in Columbus, Ohio, Saginaw, Michigan and now South Bend, Indiana.

I guess my question is: Will the rust affect the Tranny? Can it be stopped?

Thanks! Really enjoy reading all the posts each day!

Pete '87 Westy "Joe's Van"
