Another thing you can do is car pool with your vanagon (for list sugject
purposes).  I have been doing that with another person for nearly 25 years
and cut my fuel bill in half.  If enough of you do that, gasoline will hit
$1/gallon very quickly.  Look at the number of people in the cars driving
around you during rush hour.  90% have one person-the driver, in most areas.
It can't be that hard to find someone to ride with and take a ride with,
alternating every week as to who drives.
