Subject: Syncro question: how frequent was weekender option installed ?

When I stripped a dead 87 Vanagon GL (non-Westy, non-Syncro) a couple of years ago, I saved all the seats. This van had the "weekender" rear seat - folded down to a bed like in a Westy, but was full width. I've been holding on to it because I would like to one day have a Syncro with the bed and install curtains - having had two non-Syncro Westy's, I decided I don't care about the cabinets, galley, and poptop, even though they give the vans a special attraction. I just want the sleeping quarters (but bigger), would like more freedom of choice in roof racks, and could use the 4WD on mountain roads.

So I've got the seats stored in case I ever need to swap them into a Syncro. But it would be nice to clear them out of the storage area. The problem is that because of other circumstances, I won't be entertaining buying a Syncro for at least another year.

So what I'm wondering from those who have seen a number of Syncros - whether while shopping for one, attending shows, hanging out or talking with other Syncro owners, or just familiar with prouction numbers - Does anyone have an idea whether the Weekender bedseat was a commonly added option in Syncros ? Just trying to get an idea whether I should continue to hang onto the seat. I'm guessing that it is probably a good idea to hold it if I do want to get that Syncro in the future.

Thanks, Dave
