According to my ETKA, this filter has been discontinued and replaced with a suitable length of hose. That seems foolish to me. A generic filter from any FLAPS would provide insurance, though it would have to be changed regularly to prevent starvation of the pump. I was amazed at the amount of debris in the last tank I removed. Perhaps VW thinks the pump can pass this stuff without damage.
