i just make sure my AAA is up to date, my cell phone is charged, and there is plenty of beer in the fridge.

I don't remember having a check list being discussed. I recall the spare parts we would carry. We usually know which area of the car needs attention and we keep the cars in pretty good condition, as far as I can tell from reading the postings. I, for one, am just loading up the car and go on the trip without giving it a second thought. I may change the oil and filters.
