There is a 90 Vanagon on EBay that is not an true weekender. I looked at it and here is a report: It has one power window and one manual window door. Wires hanging out are to run window. It has not run in 3 years. The tray table was cut out of another van and was bolted in place. Leaks oil bad. Has rust on the front under the windshield and on the back hatch rust under the rear glass. Dog hair inside is all over. A rather larger Black widow spider guards the front right wheel well. Paint is in bad shape, parts that were painted over show. There is a small dent on the right rear corner just above the bumper. Will need some brake work to make it stop. Has an after market cruse that is missing the main unit at the front. Has bench seat for center. Missing the rear seat front panel at the floor. Since it sat for three years fuel injection system will need to be cleaned or replaced: Pump, injectors, line, filter, tank removed and cleaned, (Rust inside?) Braking system will need work: Rust on rotors, drums possible replacement needed, Front bumper is in OK shape. Questionable about the engine. Does not look like a head gasket leak but the distribution pipe end blew out easy $40 part fix. But it has sat for three years with coolant/water inside do not know shape of inside engine Stud rust is possible, probably will need to be taken apart to make sure a stud does not pop somewhere...flush system and see if it is rust colored water coming out, if not then probably is OK and does not need surgery. A/C system is new but sat for 3 years unused do not know the condition of the seals. Auto tranny is in unknown condition. Exterior lenses are unbroken. Would be good for parts or a LOT of work to get it in a safe running condition. Robert |
