For what it's worth .... When I bought my '85 the wheel covers looked really grody and had some deep scratches. I used some ordinary paint remover which is supposed to eat plastic but didn't harm them at all. I then smoothed them up with wet or dry sandpaper, filled the scratches with automotive glazing putty, primed them with automotive primer in a spray can .... wet sanded some more, filled again where necessary, etc. Then sprayed them with silver/gray. They came out looking brand new. When you get your replacement, it's not all that hard to make them all look the same ... and good at the same time. Mike '84 GL 7 pass '85 GL Westy |
