The Bentley (yeah, finally got it!) says that when bleeding the brake system, one must "push lever on brake pressure regulator in direction of rear axle." (p. 47.8) Does anyone know where that lever is? My trusty mechanical friend Steve and I got to work on my brakes today. We searched high and low and up and down, slithered around the whole underside of the van, and couldn't find anything that resembled the photo in the Bentley of the brake pressure regulator or its lever. The manual says nothing (at least that we could find) about where that is. Does anyone know? We eventually bled the brakes anyway, and it seems to have worked fine based on driving it home - much better brake pressure, at any rate. The Bentley also indicates that there should be two bleeder screws on each wheel in front, and upper and a lower. We could only find uppers. Are they describing different model years, but not specifying that these things are only for specific years? I'm getting worried here, folks. You all speak of the Bentley as if it were the Vanagon bible, I was hoping it would be clear and provide all the details we need to follow their instructions! Though I suppose the judeo-christian bible can be pretty cryptic at times too, so maybe the comparison is apt?
