My dash lights had gone out suddenly, and when someone else on the list mentioned that it could be due to a license plate bulb being burnt out, I checked and found mine burnt out too. Changing it didn't solve the problem though. It turned out to be a bad connection at the foil connector on the instrument cluster (not sure the exact name of that connector). Now I'm wondering what other electrical gremlins in my dash could be caused by this same bad connection. A few things happened pretty close to each other - my digital clock display stopped and my temp gauge reads low (mechanic swears the van is running at normal operating temperatures). The gas gauge is fine. Would either of these problems be affected by a bad connection, and if so what's the best solution? Can that foil connector be replaced independently or is it part of a bigger unit? Thanks Jeff 85 Westfalia GL Winnipeg |
