Carbon replicas are very do-able but they would be extremely expensive. I'd anticipate ~$900 a pair from a job shop like the one I work at. What I want to do is is build a bumper very similar to the chrome bumpers but have it wrap around the body like the later bumpers. Simple, slim, sleek, black, euro, 8 lbs. Similar to the second generation Golf/Jetta euro bumpers seen here: http://64.177.83.160/gti/082402_DubNGrub/DSCN3047.JPG Carbon is lighter and stronger but I'm not exactly sure if the benefits out weigh the costs. I'm building carbon body work for a race car as we speak for my senior project (I'm sticky, covered in resin). I hope to do some BMW 2002 race bumpers, hoods, and/or trunk lids this summer. Maybe I'll get a hold of a straight chrome bumper and sculpt a mold. John '85 Silver Sunroof '91 GTi 2.0 8v '76 BMW 2002
