Just had a little problem with unstable and generally cranky idle following a bumpy trip across some "early mud season" ruts -- turned out that the cross-engine coolant pipe had done its little trick of tearing the mounting stud out of the ?#1? intake pipe. It irritated me though it still actually ran ok. I didn't have my usual collection of oddments on board because I'm sorting/weeding them, but there was one piece of stiff wire just long enough to cinch around both pipes and hold them together. This is the second time that's happened to me -- first one a shop did in my pre-list days and I kept bringing it back and saying 'taint right, and the shop kept not finding any problem. Weeks later I found it myself. Went for years with a silicone-rubber gasket and some hose clamps there.

Re the fuel rail -- if you can find the plastic plug and O-ring, you can snug up an American-style hose clamp around them and stake the edges in a few places for security. With a stainless-steel clamp it's as secure and a lot longer-lasting than the original, if not as pretty.
