No it is NOT true that the key for the tank filler is universal, if you have the older style filler that uses the separate locking plug under the cover. The new replacement filler with the cover hinged at the bottom does use a cheap plastic key. We do have ways to generate keys for the locking caps, and have new locking caps also. There are 125 possible different keys for the filler, though we've only known the lock manufacturer to use 34 of the possibilities. There arre no codes on the locks, but we generate keys on a nearly daily basis for that application. Feel free to contact me for further information.
