i see from your other posts that you are looking for auto transmission. be advised that the auto transmission in the vanagon is the same as the ones in the golf - jetta. although the final drive portions are different you can find more information in the archives about this. using one of these transmissions will bring your cost down and your availability up. as for wreckers in michigan try these links out for size.

these are the local guys that i deal with the most. they are fair but don't expect to find a ton of vanagons there. they had one or two last time i was there about a year ago.
