Subject: ARRGHH! PARKING STUPIDITY! (DENT!!)

I can't believe it---The kind of thing I've always cursed other drivers for, I've now done myself. Leaving a parking lot last night, I didn't notice/pay attention to/think about the dark colored SUV right next to me, and turned RIGHT INTO IT!!! on my way out of my spot. ARGGHH!!!!

Damage to the front of his gross suv thing was minimal---I gave him $50, and he got a good deal. But there's a crater in my sliding door the size of a watermelon.

I love my '84--- it's in great shape, and very reliable. There isn't even any rust on it! (and this is in chicago). And now this!!

Anyways, I'm looking for tips. I'm assuming hammering out the dent won't yield very good results (I'm good at repainting, though). What about a new door for an '84? I'm Mr. strapped for cash, but do people sell these/have them lying around? Maybe I could at least look at this as an option for the future. (I'm in chicago now, but driving to pittsburgh this weekend, so I could /feasibly/ pick one up in a pretty wide area).

Thanks for any help guys. Man, this sort of thing really makes you feel dumb.

-wes
