I've been getting a flurry of questions on this, so let me go over the details. If you have the early style filler that's hinged at the top with the locking cap, there is NOT a universal key. There are 125 different possibilities, though we've only known the manufacturer to use 34 different keys. There are no codes on the lock. We can generate a key in one of two ways. If you remove the lock and send it, we clean/lube the lock and fit a key. To remove it, remove the 4 screws holding the filler to the van. Remove the large hose going to the filler. You can now access the rear of the lock. Remove the 10mm nut and locking bar and the cap will come off the front.

If you have the new style filler that the entire cover locks, we have a reproduction plastic key that fits all the covers.

As far as cost, on the early style, it's $13 for the first key and $4 for copies. On the new style, they are $4 each.

We also manufacture reproduction locking caps for the old style. Cost is $35

I hope this helps explain the situation. I'll be glad to answer any other questions on the locks if you email me. Incidentally, we will be closed all next week while I'm in England looking for lock goodies. I'll try to answer emails, but won't be as fast as usual.
