I called NJ DMV about this one (we hired on guys from California to do our testing a couple of years ago so our rules are similar). They told me that to convert your vehicle from gas to diesel powered is doable. However you have to get a special certification for the vehicle to say that it is a kit vehicle. Once you do this then you can convert and be legal. Don't know what this would do to resale value. Best thing is to call your state DMV and ask questions.

Everything I read says that conversion from gas to diesel is not permitted. If they could cite a section of the California Vehicle Code or Bureau of Automotive Repair regulations that allow this, I'm definitely interested.
