I looked at a 1984 Westy here in Phoenix, and talked to the owner. It was on e-Bay, and he was hoping to get around $3000 for it.

It sold for $4750. The final bidder had his high bid set at $6300.

It is very bad for those of us who want to get into a Westy and don't have a lot of money. There is a 1989 Westy with 183K miles on it on e-Bay now going for $7585.

And I have $4000 to spend. Sometimes I have to wonder what people are thinking. On the other hand, all of you with Vanagons for sale - they are now worth more! Unless you want to sell to me, of course...

After talking to the seller of the 1991 Carat with 62k miles that ended today on eBay, I am kicking myself. He was willing to let it go for $5500. Well, it ended up at $10,200. If the buyer actually pays, wow, that is a lot of money for a van. Sure looked sweet.
