Subject: Is your Vanagon "alarmed"?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Got a nice surprise yesterday as I rolled open the slider on my 82 Westy to fetch something -- some jerk decided to liberate my Blaupunkt deck from the dash. Apparently used something to poke through the window's weatherstrip and pop up the driver's door lock. Not much damage- at least they didn't hack the dash, but antenna wire, speaker wires- everything just cut.

Hopefully they left some decent fingerprints, but the investigating officer didn't hold much hope of any further action. Gee, big surprise.

I was figuring on getting an MP3 deck eventually, but didn't anticipate a need to do so this early.

Anyway, my question is- do you have an alarm on your van, how is it setup, and has it been an effective deterrent?

... and yes, the stereo had a removeable faceplate that I did NOT remove. Dammit.
