I had the same problem on my '84 and just replaced the O-ring with good
results.  It's actually not a typical O-ring.  It's more like a small
section cut from a tube.  The sides are flat.  I got it from an online
vendor.

The blower won't turn and eats fuses.  It was seized up but I got it to
rotate  by hand.  It's still not wanting to trun freely and ate another
fuse.  Can I save it or do I need a new one?

I would first try taking it to an electric shop that rebuilds motors and
generators and such.  They could fit it with new bearings and check it out
electrically.

A number of list members have removed their rear heaters and might offer one
at a decent price.  I also see them on e-bay from time to time.

I suspect the heater core is junk too.  I've heard $55 new at Halsey in
Portland.  Can anyone beat that?

I had to replace the core in my '85.  I think I paid $69.00 plus shipping.
