For what it's worth ....

When I bought my '85 the wheel covers looked really grody and had some deep scratches. I used some ordinary paint remover which is supposed to eat plastic but didn't harm them at all. I then smoothed them up with wet or dry sandpaper, filled the scratches with automotive glazing putty, primed them with automotive primer in a spray can .... wet sanded some more, filled again where necessary, etc. Then sprayed them with silver/gray. They came out looking brand new.

When you get your replacement, it's not all that hard to make them all look the same ... and good at the same time.
